Description
San Leonardo's Carmenère, sourced from the estate's oldest vines, embodies the essence of the terroir with an extraordinary capacity for evolution. This variety, introduced at the end of the 19th century by Oddone de Gresti, was long confused with Cabernet Franc. Only in the late 1980s did Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga correctly identify Carmenère, revaluing it and making it a distinctive element of San Leonardo wines.
