Description
The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 from Argiano is a prestigious wine made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes. The vineyards, situated at an altitude of 280 to 310 meters above sea level, thrive on marl and ancient clay soils rich in limestone, contributing to the wine's complexity. The vines, ranging from 12 to 55 years old, are cultivated using the spur cordon and guyot methods, adhering to organic farming principles and maintaining a limited yield per vine. The 2019 vintage featured a typical winter with a light snowfall in March, followed by a spring with occasional but substantial rains and low temperatures without frost risks. Summer began warm, tempered later by refreshing rains, and a stable September allowed for optimal grape ripening. Harvest took place in mid-September. The vinification process included a pre-fermentative cold maceration for about four days, followed by fermentation in stainless steel and natural cement tanks at controlled temperatures below 26 degrees Celsius for a total of three weeks. Malolactic fermentation occurred in cement tanks. The aging process for the Brunello di Montalcino 2019 involved approximately 30 months in Slavonian and French oak barrels of various capacities (10/15/30/50 hl). The different parcels were kept separate during the wood aging process before being blended. The wine then rested in cement tanks for several months before bottling, which took place between April and May following the most favorable lunar phases, followed by extended bottle aging. With an alcohol content of 14.5%, this Brunello offers a fresh, complex, and fruity nose, enriched with balsamic and meaty notes. On the palate, it is vertical with silky and well-integrated tannins and a pronounced sapidity, making it suitable for a wide range of culinary pairings.
