Description
The Sugarille vineyard, documented since 1547, stands at the core of the Brunello di Montalcino D.O.P. Sugarille crafted by Cantina Pieve S. Restituta in Montalcino. Spanning over 4.5 hectares, facing south, and boasting clay-limestone soils enriched with galestro, this single vineyard yields an extraordinary wine. Winemaking involves a fermentation and maceration period of approximately three weeks, followed by an extended aging of 24 months in wood and an additional 6 months in cement vats. The resulting Brunello stands out for its deep color and intricate bouquet, revealing mature fruit notes, wild cherries, delicate floral hints of violet, and traces of spices and minerality. It presents a robust structure complemented by seamlessly integrated tannins. Its inaugural vintage dates back to 1990, with Gaja beginning production in 1995, underlining the vineyard's significant historical connection with Cantina Pieve S. Restituta and their ongoing commitment to crafting high-quality wines.
